Rewind Technique Training Course Testimonials

Mary George, Mental Health Counsellor Intern, St Petersburg, USA

"I only listened to the recordings. This is my preference. I'm an audio learner so I can listen over and over and keep for later review. Not sure I could have gotten more if I had called in as Mark and Jill are readily available via email in the forum. For me, in the US, and with a voip phone, I would not be able to call Europe without an exorbitant cost anyway. This was fine and I chose it because I could listen over and over."

"I'm very satisfied. Thank you all for all the effort and detail, examples, candor, etc.... This is my kind of language. I want to use this technique. In future I want to work with PTSD/Trauma victims. I'm ex military and see the need for something more effective than what is being used now in the US. I am currently doing an internship in a substance abuse residential facility and many of the clients have PTSD/Traumas that I believe caused the substance abuse in the first place."

"Very good course. I would definitely recommend this to others with similar aspirations as myself."

Kevin Suter, Registered Psychologist, South Africa

"I must say that I have found your support with course-related matters and my personal circumstances to be of an exceptional standard and do so appreciate your prompt, helpful replies to queries. I have referred many of my colleagues (in SA and UK) to Uncommon Knowledge and have encouraged them to do your courses. We especially need more practitioners who know how to competently apply the Rewind Technique in South Africa given our high (violent) crime rate."

Janice Bowles, Hypnotherapist & Life Coach, Thame, UK

"I have really enjoyed being part of The Rewind Technique course. The information provided is so thorough that I now have 100% confidence in helping my clients with phobia and PTSD. The sessions are very well presented and easy to follow, which is essential as there's a lot of information to absorb. Mark and Jill are so friendly yet true professionals. I highly value the work ethic of Uncommon Knowledge to the point that this is always my first port of call if I'm researching any information - I'm looking forward to my next course and intend to book on others too!"

"The entire concept captured me as it is a fantastic tool that could especially help the vulnerable ladies I work with. I liked the relaxation exercises that could help anyone and the dvds/recorded sessions where the technique is being used. I found that the conference calls were very useful as they gave me the opportunity not only to learn but the chance to ask questions that related to my profession. Mark and Jill were excellent at providing guidance and it was easy to visualise what clients it could actually work for."

"Mark and Jill come across as really knowing their stuff - the depth and substance was excellent.  Really good to have a structured tool or method - but also be given enough understanding to use it flexibly."

"I found the open-ended questions quite a lot of work which was very valuable for me overall as they really helped me understand the concepts of how the brain works, along with how the Rewind works and the importance of client safety etc. I loved having the visual DVD of the Rewind and also being talked through it on the Conference Call with Jill, I found it very helpful as well using objects to move around into the various positions. Thank-you both for another awesome course :-)"

"I like that I could take a class in the UK from the US right from home. Gotta love the Internet. I also found the instructors to be thorough and to the point. Lots of good information."

"I was specifically looking for a way to help my PTSD clients better and after a lot of research this technique seemed the best and quickest method to helping people I was already working with."

Examples of use of the Rewind Technique:

"1. Female, 18yrs about to totally give up college and subsequent University offer because of a very strange and quite complex phobia triggered by certain cars and (even more bizarrely) people with a certain appearance. Single session and she was transformed. She is still fine and at University (18 months on)"

"2. Man 41. Fear of elevators (after being trapped in a lift and a helpful fellow passenger shaking the car and talking about plunging downward) - Session and telephone back-up. He later visited NYC and went to both the Empire State Building and the Rockefeller centre."

"I find that with most people it will either get rid of, or significantly reduce the fear or phobia in just one session. Once you know the technique, you can confidently 'fix' simple fears, anxieties and phobias with confidence."

"I use this technique often, and have used it for everything from simple problems such as nerves about giving a presentation at work, to more complex problems such as childhood abuse, to long term 'known traumas' such as getting lost as a child, to straightforward phobias such as fear of injections."

"Learn it, and you'll have a great tool for your therapy tool box, which is flexible and adaptable for different clients and different situations. It also shows a client, very quickly, how you can begin to help them with life-long problems. I once did the technique on a recovering alcoholic, who had a childhood memory of a chair being thrown out of a window by an angry parent. It had haunted him for 50 years. It was gone in 20 minutes. He couldn't believe it!"

"Ah - the rewind. One of the most powerful tools in the box and invaluable for dealing with phobias and trauma. Used in conjunction with scaling it never ceases to amaze me when I ask the client (who had scaled at a 9 or 10 beforehand) to rescale after using the rewind - most often there is a pause while they search deep inside to where that old fear was before admitting that they just can't locate it because it's gone. And the real beauty of the rewind is that it's so effective so quickly."

"I have used the rewind extensively.  It has been the most effective tool I have found to date.  I recently worked with a lady who had had a car accident three years previously.  Since this time she had lost her confidence and subsequently lost her job as a Deputy Headteacher.  Upon exploration with her, it became obvious that she had severe symptoms of PTSD.  I used the rewind technique  to unhook the strong emotional reaction she had about the event and other linked events.  At the end she was amazed how different she felt.  She had tears of joy running down her face as she exclaimed she had not been able to feel at peace like this since the accident happened.  She never looked back and never reported another flashback again.  She was claiming compensation as a result of the accident at the time and a week later I received a letter from her solicitor asking me about the techniques I had used as they had heard what a difference it had made to my client and they were interested in applying it to other similar cases."

"The other bit of feedback I can think is that often when I am using the rewind technique, clients show clear signs of being in REM which lets me know they are actively creating a new template in the brain.  This is always helpful to see but I have still had very effective results even if people don't show REM overtly."

"As a therapist the rewind technique is invaluable to my work. It is not just the fact that it is quick and effective but the gentleness of the therapy is wonderful. I have used it to help clients move on from devastating, sometimes horrific, past events which have plagued them for years, e.g cases of child abuse. Without the rewind technique  therapy would be much longer and more difficult."

"On a personal level the rewind gave me my life back. I had suffered with PTSD for over 3yrs as a result of an horrific labour. I lived with constant fear, became depressed and avoided social situations and anything to do with babies. Following one rewind session the fear had gone, the cloud of depression had lifted and I felt like I could fly! It was an amazing feeling. The best thing about it was knowing that I could never go back to feeling that awful way again. "

"I have had some amazing results with the rewind and how it frees people up to move on from fear, it is an indispensable tool in my kit bag – for most people it brings about immediate results which astound them."

Emma Disney, East Sussex

"I have used the rewind technique with many clients who have been traumatised through many different situations, the one that stands out was a woman who had been in a very abusive physically & mentally relationship and due to this had had many issues with her self esteem and relationships  - so we rewound the whole relationship so she could remove the trauma from her mind and rebuild her self esteem and her personal life, she was very suprised at the results and said she had wished she had known about the technique years ago."

"Another lady was astounded at how it allowed her to let go of the trauma of her memories of her terminally ill son, it allowed her to rememeber the son for the 26 years before he died not the last few months that were so traumatic for her - she had been trapped and haunted by the last months and had found it hard to recall the time before he was ill."

"It is one of the most powerful techniques you can work with as the client does not have to share any of the trauma if they do not want to and in one session they can completely change the emotions of the trauma from one of emotional pain to releasing it to a gentle memory.  It really is life changing and can allow the client a full recovery."

"It is an incredibly powerful and life changing tool to have within your skills as a therapist and to see such change so quickly is what this job is all about.  It needs to be shared at a greater level as there as SO many people that can change their lives by experiencing the rewind technique."

"I used rewind for an actor with stage fright who had been working as a plasterer for 3 years as he could not face auditions or any kind of acting. He had one session where I used rewind. He cancelled his following appointment as he was doing an audition and is now back on stage."

"I have also used rewind for several people with flying phobias. All have since flown happily. One all the way to Australia and back."

"The rewind is a fantastic technique. It makes me feel extremely effective and confident when working with post traumatic stress and phobias."

"My personal experience of the rewind is having my spider phobia completely cured. I can now put them safely outside without any stress rather than beg someone else to deal with it for me while quaking in another room!"

"So far as a therapist I have used it to cure 3 spider phobias, a snake phobia, a rat phobia and a height phobia. "

"But without doubt the most rewarding use of the rewind technique has been working with trauma and freeing clients of the misery of post taumatic stress. These include:"
  • A male client in his mid 40's who had been suffering flashbacks and nightmares due to childhood sexual abuse;
  • a woman who following a fall downstairs resulting in severe injuries was waking 9-10 times every night with flashbacks;
  • a woman still suffering the effects 5 years on of a 14 year abusive relationship;
  • a woman still stuck in severe grief 2 years on from her baby dying in traumatic circumstances;
  • and an air hostess who had suffered a life threatening medical trauma in flight resulting in a flight phobia.
"In every case using the rewind provided immediate, profound and lasting relief in a single session."

"Having worked in mental health for 12 years before retraining as a hypnotherapist, I can say it is definately the most valuable skill I have ever learned."

"I saw a television program recently about the PTSD suffered by war veterans and it broke my heart to see a young man of 25, an ex soldier who served in Iraq,  in tears, unable to leave his flat and unable to work.  I met an ex soldier who is now in business himself at my  business networking club that his experience is that trying to get involved with supplying a service to the MOD would take me years and cost me a lot of money because of all the red tape involved. WHY isn't the army offering this therapy to soldiers as a matter of course?"

"When first taught the principles of the rewind, it seemed hard to believe anything so simple could address a lifelong phobia. Since then, though, I've lost track of the number of people who have found their lives bettered by it. People with phobias of spiders, lifts, moths, needles and even ghosts have safely, comfortably and quickly seen their fears fade using the technique. I would unhesitatingly recommend it."

"As a therapist, I have personally found the rewind technique to be a very versatile tool and effective, particularly in the phobia arena. In the last12 months I have used the rewind technique to eradicate dozens of specific phobias, including "fear of flying", "fears of wasps and spiders", "fear of stuffed animals", "fear of walking up open staircases" and "fear of driving on the motor way". I have also found that after using the rewind technique on specific memories that panic attacks related to this memory often disappear. In addition to this, I have also successfully used the technique to alleviate anxiety related to anticipatory events such as exam nerves. It is an essential part of any therapist's toolkit."

"Many people have to compromise the way they live their lives because of fears, phobias, or the traumatic effects of bad experiences. Some may even believe they have to put up with these forever. However, all phobias, fears and traumas can be treated, and usually very quickly."

"We believe the Rewind Technique is the most effective way to do this. We use it time and again in our practice, successfully lifting the most severe, lifelong phobias, often in just one session. We have also used it to deal with traumatic memories arising from such things as miscarriage and bullying. The fact that the technique allows these memories to be dealt with in a safe, respectful and non-intrusive way is very important, both to us and to our clients. "

"The difference the Rewind Technique can make to people's lives is truly remarkable. It is an indispensable tool for any therapist."

"After experiencing a head on collision I had the rewind technique done which allowed me to get back into the car and drive again without any problems as well as the flashbacks and the nightmares stopping!"

"I also recently treated lady who has a fear of flying, her husband had been working in France and she could not go and visit him for over six months due to her fear. After one session using the rewind technique she was looking forward to the trip she had booked and said she was amazed at how relaxed she felt about the flight, even when on the flight and there was turbulence she was fine."

"I have had great success with this technique especially with a client who had a fear of heights. I recently heard back from them saying they where able to climb to the top of the Eiffel tower on a visit to Paris. A very powerful technique indeed."

Letter from a client who has experienced the 'Rewind Technique'

"(When I saw this lady, she was not her usually bubbly, confident self.  She was suffering extreme stress through feeling bullied by her new boss and the feeling that he wanted her out of the company.  She cried a lot, was shaking and looked exhausted)"

"I thought I must let you know how successful our hypnotherapy session was. After 12 years with the same company, I was suffering from work-related stress which culminated in my launching a grievance against the company. As the date of the grievance hearing approached I became highly nervous, so much so that I was frequently tearful and suffering classic symptoms of anxiety: unable to sleep, racing heart etc."

"The hearing was an ordeal I was dreading."

"However, after our session I felt so much better, far calmer and more confident about facing the hearing."

"On the morning of the hearing I awoke feeling refreshed, calm and confident."

"When I attended, it was not with a feeling of trepidation but of assertiveness, calmness and a determination to fight my corner. I am pleased to say I conducted myself in a calm, dignified and totally professional manner. I do not believe this would have been the case had it not been for our wonderfully effective session."

"Whatever the outcome of the grievance process, I really can't thank you enough. I know with certainty that, had it not been for your help, I would have been a gibbering wreck."

"I would definitely recommend you to anyone who felt they could benefit from hypnotherapy. Kind regards and many thanks"

The Rewind technique has also cured a lady's Bird Phobia

"If birds came near her, and she was sitting down or crouching, she panicked.  If standing, she was okay because she felt she could run."

"After her 2nd session (she wasn't in a position to test after 1st session), Jenny described waiting for a train at Victoria Station with pigeons flying around. Although she was watching, she felt a lot calmer, even though she was sitting and pigeons came close."

"Also, whilst eating at an outside restaurant, sparrows came quite close and her friend asked her if she wanted to move. She stayed put and asked her friend to tell her if they came really close. She didn't look at them."

"Finally, she was in town that day and pigeons came close. She carried on walking straight ahead, instead of skirting around the birds and ducking into shop doorways."

"I used the Rewind Technique on a client with Haematophobia (Fear of vomiting). It was pervading all of her life. She felt she could not allow her toddler to play in the garden if it was wet and she shut herself away and starved herself if any mention of a sickness bug was going around.  She cooked food until it was black, for fear of germs, and threw food out on the day it reached it's eat-by date." "Going to bed was her worst time as she felt anxious and sick with difficulty in getting to sleep.  She felt stressed all the time."

"After one session, she watched an item on the national news about a sickness and diahorrea bug around the country and, instead of running out of the room and locking herself away, she carried on eating her pudding."

"After two sessions, her relationship with food had totally changed. She was eating meat that was soft and tender and had cooked, and eaten, a stew she had made with meat that had reached its eat-by-date that same day."

"In the evenings, instead of sitting forward on the couch bouncing her heel continually, she sat back and relaxed. She reported that even her hands were less fidgety."

"On one occasion, her daughter vomited on her and she called her parents to come round and they said she had to deal with it.  She then called them back and said she was okay."

Thomas Cabral, Ankara, Turkey

"Sound knowledge based on sound research presented in a clear no nonsense sort of way. I am looking forward to future courses. I was taught this technique before,during my NLP training, but never had agood understanding nor the know how to execute it properly and effectively.Now İ do as well as the confidence to use it."
