Your Contact Details
- Reference Contact Details - 2 people who we may approach immediately for a reference on your experience and qualifications (who should not be relatives)
- Employment Details - Position held, key duties and achievements
- Education and Qualifications
- Skills and Abilities - provide brief examples when you have demonstrated; 1. use of Dreamweaver or other web activity (give URL's if appropriate), 2. use of databases, programming or excel and 3. use of communication skills to solve a problem or increase understanding. If possible, please use a different scenario for each example.
To help you write about your Skills and Abilities, here are some real examples from work I do (but don't let that put you off!) If you don't have an exact example, please think about your transferable skills and give a reasonable alternative example from your work, school or personal life.
"I purchased the "Site Build It" package to create www.mftrou.com and used Dreamweaver to create templates and library files for the site. I used Search Engine Optimisation techniques to increase the ranking and traffic, and earn income through Google Adsense. My traffic has increased from a few hundred to over two thousand daily unique visitors and regularly receive link requests from other websites."
"I use excel to analyse key web performance metrics (traffic, conversion rates, sales) and report to management. I have quality checks in place to ensure that any trends are a true reflection of the websites performance and not an error in the reporting method."
"I regularly translate web performance metrics into written bullet points, so that managers can understand quickly how their department is doing. Due to the relationship I have built with the managers, when I recently noticed that a web site was underperforming on a particular product, I was able to alert the manager immediately so they could correct the fault. The product sales returned to normal and the manager was grateful."
In your covering letter, please briefly explain what excites you about the internet. Please note the closing date for applications is December 4th.
Thanks in advance for putting in the time and effort to apply for this position. If you've got any further questions, please call Lyndsay Swinton on 01273 776770.
